New GPRA Movie Club!
“You talkin’ to me?”
“I love the smell of napalm in the morning.”
“They call me Mister Tibbs!”
“I’m gonna make him an offer he can’t refuse.”
“A boy’s best friend is his mother.”
“Greed, for lack of a better word, is good.”
“You don’t understand! I coulda had class. I coulda been a contender. I could’ve been somebody, instead of a bum, which is what I am, let’s face it.”
If you are like me, and when you read each of the above lines you heard the voice and saw the scene in your mind, then I have a new club for you. Announcing the GPRA Movie Club.
The aim of the club is to organize events that can bring movie fans of all levels together (maybe you knew all of the lines above; maybe you knew none of them) to watch and discuss moving pictures. Events will vary from new movies at the theater to "watch" nights at various neighborhood homes.
Our first event will be on June 30th. We’ll watch “Free State of Jones” at Cinemark, followed by drinks and discussion.
In August, to celebrate the remaking of one of the classics, “Ben-Hur”, we will compare the original with the remake.
